Aida El Kholi Starling, PhD is a professional with a scientific technical background and a proven proficiency in science management and communications. As the coordinator of the UAB-HudsonAlpha Center for Genomic Medicine, Starling serves as the HudsonAlpha Point-of-Contact for UAB and manages the activities of the Center, which includes the annual Symposium, the annual Request for Applications, the newsletter and the website. She also supports joint applications for sponsored funding opportunities.

Your POC at UAB – Robert Bowman, MSs, GC; Secondary Edu.; Dev.Bio and Genetics

Originally from northern West Virginia, Bob has previously worked at UAB in the Center for Palliative and Supportive Care and in the UAB Family Clinic at Children’s of Alabama. Prior to moving to Birmingham with his wife Ella, Bob spent 16 years in Indianapolis where he worked as a high school science teacher for 4 years before accepting a position at the Indiana State Department of Health where he worked for 7 years as the Genomics and Newborn Screening Director and another 2 ½ years as the Maternal and Child Health Division Director.

Bob received a Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling from Indiana University, as well as two prior Master’s degrees in Secondary Education and Developmental Biology and Genetics from West Virginia University along with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Bethany College in Bethany, WV.
