Multiplexed functional assays subject of research seminar

Lea Starita, PhD., visited HudsonAlpha May 16, 2018 to deliver a research seminar on “Multiplexed functional assays to understand the impact of missense variation.”

Starita is an assistant research professor in the Genome Sciences Department at the University of Washington and co-director of the Advanced Technology Lab at the Brotman Baty Institute for Precision Medicine where she develops massively parallel methods to determine the effects of genetic variation on protein function. Using this approach, Dr. Starita hopes to help solve the problem of variants of uncertain significance by scoring the pathogenic potential of genetic variants before they are found in the clinic.

Sara Cooper, PhD, hosted the Wednesday seminar. More information on HudsonAlpha Research Seminars, including an upcoming schedule, can be found at hudsonalpha.org/seminars.
