UAB cystic fibrosis specialist presents at HudsonAlpha

Dr. Steven Rowe, who specializes in cystic fibrosis research, gave a presentation for the HudsonAlpha Research Seminars on December 7 in the HudsonAlpha Auditorium.

Rowe is the Nancy R. and Eugene C. Gwaltney Family Endowed Chair at UAB and director of the Gregory Fleming James Cystic Fibrosis Research Center. He graduated from Vanderbilt Medical School and did his residency and fellowship at UAB. The Rowe lab develops new therapeutics for CF and conducts numerous clinical trials targeting the basic CF defect. Rowe has studied the suppression of premature termination codons for treatment of genetic diseases caused by nonsense mutations. He also directs a clinical research program investigating the relationship between CF and the chronic bronchitis of COPD.
