Startup funding and investing: HudsonAlpha co-sponsoring investor training event

HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology and Rocket Hatch are co-sponsoring a day-long event on Monday, February 15 to teach entrepreneurs how to fund and invest in startup companies. The morning session, How to Raise Early-stage Capital, will cover different methods of raising capital to help start or grow a business, as well as the best ways to meet and engage with potential investors. The afternoon session, Becoming a Startup Investor, will cover strategies for getting started as a startup or angel investor.

Phil Shmerling, CEO of the angel investment group InCrowd Capital, will lead the class. Shmerling will present information based on his personal experiences as well as data from third-party research.

The training event will take place at HudsonAlpha, which is located at 601 Genome Way in Huntsville. The HudsonAlpha campus is home to 31 life science companies, bringing unmatched diversity to Huntsville’s high-tech community. HudsonAlpha offers turnkey leased space for existing bioscience companies and startups, offering and encouraging long-term business growth on its collaborative 152-acre campus.
