Huntsville native to direct HudsonAlpha fundraising efforts

Huntsville, Ala. — HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology is pleased to announce the appointment of Lynne Berry as the new Director for Advancement. Berry has served the Institute since December 2013 as Director of External Relations.

“Lynne Berry has been a friend and supporter of the Institute since its founding,” said HudsonAlpha President and Science Director Rick Myers. “She has the professional demeanor, experience, deep roots, and diverse relationships throughout the State of Alabama to serve HudsonAlpha well as we expand our advancement efforts.”

Prior to HudsonAlpha, Berry was the founding executive director of the Community Foundation of Huntsville/Madison County.  A Huntsville native, she has worked in the offices of former Congressman Bud Cramer and Senator Jeff Sessions. She serves on the boards of six organizations that, like HudsonAlpha, work for the betterment of the State of Alabama, including Leadership Alabama, the Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama, the Alabama Humanities Foundation, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, the Blackburn Institute at the University of Alabama, and the Bryant-Jordan Scholarship Program.

“I am in awe of HudsonAlpha and all it represents,” said Berry. “Its mission is all about life – diagnoses, treatments, cures, food, fuel.  To play a part in its advancement is an honor and a gift.”
