HudsonAlpha seminar focuses on battling drug resistance

In the first seminar of 2020, Tatyana Sysoeva, PhD, spoke to scientists at HudsonAlpha about her research into drug-resistant bacteria. Sysoeva is a professor of microbiology at The University of Alabama in Huntsville.

Sysoeva noted there are many red flags being raised around the world regarding the rising rates of multidrug resistant diseases. She studies uropathogenic e. Coli in particular. Her research has found that drug resistance spreads easily, and looking for a way to prevent the transfer of that trait could help medicine stay one step ahead.

This seminar was hosted by Sara Cooper, PhD.
