American Campus Tree Genomes Project pushes equality in genomic science
Bioinformatics is an indispensable tool in genomic research. Unfortunately, bioinformatics training is not equally accessible to everyone. HudsonAlpha Faculty Investigator Alex Harkess and Auburn professor Les Goertzen realized the value of authentic research experience in helping students gain an interest in science and bioinformatics and transferable skills to succeed beyond their educational journey. The American Campus Tree Genomes (ACTG) Project aims to break down institutional barriers keeping students from valuable hands-on research projects and experience in bioinformatics.
