HudsonAlpha seminar speaker discusses his research in ALS and FTD

HudsonAlpha welcomed Krishna Bhat, MD, PhD, as an invited speaker for the Research Seminar series. Dr. Bhat is Mary and Harry Goldsmith Endowed Chair in Alzheimer’s Disease and a tenured full professor in the Departments of Molecular Medicine and Neurology at the Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. HudsonAlpha Faculty Investigator Nick Cochran, PhD, hosted the seminar.

During his talk entitled “Neural Connectivity, Dementias and Quantum State of Our Mind”, Dr. Bhat discussed his fascinating work on Drosophila nervous system development and function. The work has led to important information on human brain and nervous system development, including several potential molecular targets for treating amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
