HUNTSVILLE (June 26, 2025) — HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology dedicated one of the key roadways leading to its campus in memory of longtime donors Ruth and John Jurenko today.
The road, now named Jurenko Way, leads to the not-for-profit genomic research institute’s campus off Moquin Drive and is located between Genome Way and McMillian Way, which is named in memory of Institute co-founder Lonnie McMillian. The dedication was made possible through a memorial gift from the Jurenko Foundation. HudsonAlpha’s campus is located within the Cummings Research Park.
“It’s especially meaningful that this road leading to our campus now bears the name of Ruth and John Jurenko,” said Neil Lamb, PhD, HudsonAlpha President. “The Jurenko family have been supporters since HudsonAlpha’s early days. I know I’ll smile each morning when I see the Jurenko name—it’s a daily reminder of their generosity and lasting impact.”
John Jurenko, who died in 2015, was a co-founder of Adtran and a prominent north Alabama philanthropist and key supporter of HudsonAlpha from its earliest days. Jurenko, McMillian and Mark C. Smith founded Adtran in 1985.
