Herrin promoted to Senior Director of Advancement

Elizabeth Herrin

HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology has promoted Elizabeth Herrin to Senior Director of Advancement. In this role, she will lead the efforts of the Advancement Team in support of the HudsonAlpha Foundation. The role of the Advancement Team is to raise philanthropic support for HudsonAlpha’s mission.

Elizabeth has been with HudsonAlpha since before the doors opened, joining in 2007 as employee number 21. The mission of HudsonAlpha has always been personal to Elizabeth. Her father was a respected physician who passed away later in life from Alzheimer’s disease. Her mother is a 35-year ovarian cancer survivor. In addition, she has a son with a genetic disorder that was incorrectly treated for 12 years due to a lack of genetic insights at the time of his original diagnosis.

In her time at the Institute, Elizabeth has raised support for many of HudsonAlpha’s research programs. She created and organized the Spring Benefit and Tie The Ribbons annual fundraising events, established the Ambassador and Connections groups and participated in the planning for the Genome Circle. Herrin was on the team that designed and implemented the Information is Power program – and is credited for giving it its name. In addition, she launched the Memory and Mobility Program, which has raised millions of dollars for HudsonAlpha’s work in neurological disease research.

Please join us in congratulating Elizabeth on her promotion to Senior Director of Advancement.
