Panelists at Eli Lilly and Company site announcement on Dec. 9, 2025 in Huntsville.

December 9, 2025 – The dream of HudsonAlpha founders Jim Hudson and the late Lonnie McMillian took another step forward yesterday as Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: LLY) announced that it was investing more than $6 billion in a new manufacturing facility in Huntsville. It is the largest industrial private investment ever made in the State of Alabama. The 260-acre site will be located on the north side of I-565 near Greenbrier Parkway in Huntsville-Limestone County.

During an event to announce the facility held at Mars Music Hall, David Ricks, Lilly’s chair and CEO, shared that the presence of HudsonAlpha contributed to the decision to build in north Alabama with possibilities for collaboration on research and development. Once operational, the project will create 450 high-value jobs, including engineers, scientists, operations personnel and lab technicians.

Huntsville won out from a list that included more than 300 sites when planning began. HudsonAlpha, along with the City of Huntsville, the Chamber, state leaders and several local colleges worked together to show Lilly what makes this community special.Click here for more information about this project.
