A team of scientists, including several from the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology and USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS), created a valuable tool for future improvements in pecan breeding by sequencing the complete genomes of four varieties of the cultivated pecan tree.

HudsonAlpha researchers were part of a multinational team that have been studying the genome of a plant called switchgrass for over a decade. New results from their efforts were published in the journal Nature in January 2021.
