Bill Roark named to HudsonAlpha Board of Directors

The HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology named Bill Roark to its Board of Directors at a regularly scheduled meeting of the Institute’s leadership.

Roark is the co-founder and former CEO of Torch Technologies, Inc., and has over 30 years of Department of Defense-related experience. Roark is also the founder and CEO of Starfish Holdings, founder of Freedom Real Estate & Capital, and a Board of Experts Member at Birthing of Giants.

As the CEO of Torch, Roark guided the company to national recognition as one of the Top 100 Fastest Growing Companies in America. Prior to founding Torch, Roark was the Senior Vice President for the Camber Corporation. Before that, he was with the Nichols Research Corporation. Roark graduated with an MS in Physics from the University of Kentucky and a BS in Mathematics from Cumberland College. 

Torch is a three-time recipient of the Better Business Bureau Torch Award for outstanding business ethics and was recognized by the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce as the Small Business of the Year in Technology (2007). Torch is also a 4-time winner of the Best Places to Work in Huntsville/Madison County (2017, 2016, 2012 and 2008).

In addition to his support for HudsonAlpha, Roark has been a philanthropic supporter of many organizations in the Huntsville community, including the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville and Huntsville Hospital.
