DNA Services
The GSL offers DNA genotyping services through next-gen sequencing and microarray.
Experiments may be categorized as:
- Whole genome sequencing, most often used to characterize unknown or small genomes such as bacteria
- Exome sequencing, which aim to reduce the complexity of sequencing the human genome down to the coding regions
- Custom capture sequencing, which is designed to isolate and deep-sequence a specific region of the genome
- SNP genotyping by microarray, which gives a snapshot of several hundred thousand SNPs in a sample
- Epigenetics experiments, which assay methylation or protein-binding sites
Sequencing platforms offered include Illumina, SOLiD, and Roche 454, with the best choice of platform dependent on the goals of the experiment. Microarray platforms include Affymetrix and Illumina.
