The GSL was established by Shawn Levy, Ph.D. upon his arrival in August 2009 to the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, a non-profit institute in Huntsville, Alabama. Previously, Dr. Levy served as director of the Vanderbilt Microarray Shared Resource, growing the VMSR from a small microarray core facility to a world-renowned genomics center. Since his arrival, the GSL has grown rapidly, providing genomic service offerings to institutes in Alabama, the US, and all over the world. The GSL primarily specializes in sequencing technologies, but also offers microarray, epigenetic, and RT-PCR services.
