Genetic Resources to Empower Alabama Teachers — GREAT — workshops update high school teachers’ genetics knowledge by highlighting recent scientific findings. Teachers will be introduced to applications based on these discoveries through two days of small group concurrent sessions and talks by HudsonAlpha educators.

GREAT VI: Back to the future

In this round of GREAT, we revisit HudsonAlpha’s first educational kit, Disorder Detectives. Once the front-line genetic test, how has karyotyping changed in the last 15 years? Then we look forward to the future of genetic testing and population screening. HudsonAlpha’s newest kit, How Do Polygenic Risk Scores Stack Up?, examines the science behind polygenic risk for complex diseases. Join us for a day of discoveries in genomics and biotech, and leave equipped to bring those discoveries to your biology classroom.

This content is designed for high school life science teachers only. Registrants must teach at least one section of high school biology in an Alabama Public School.
